6168 Ridge Avenue Zoning Plan

The Roxborough Development Corporation’s Roxborough 2020 Initiative completed in June 2015, engaged over 700 neighborhood stakeholders to envision improvements to Ridge Avenue and the Roxborough neighborhood over the next five years. A major goal of Roxborough 2020 was to encourage a diverse business mix along Ridge Avenue. Through a community survey, a brewpub was one of the most desirable business types requested on Ridge Avenue.

The Roxborough Development Corporation has formalized plans to purchase, redevelop and lease 6168 Ridge Avenue for use as a brewpub restaurant. The property located at 6168 Ridge Avenue is zoned CMX 2.5. The nearest cross streets are Ridge Avenue and Mitchell Street and Leverington Avenue and Krams Avenue.

The brewpub project involves a zoning appeal at 6168 Ridge Avenue. The proposal is for the erection of a one story addition to the rear of an existing structure and the use as a sit-down restaurant with the manufacture of beer, which is a limited industrial use, and accessory sale of beer on site on the first floor.

The proposed use was refused by the City of Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections for the following reasons: the proposed limited industrial use to brew beer is prohibited, the occupied area of the lot is less than required and the rear yard depth is less than required.

Central Roxborough Civic Association, the coordinating Registered Community Organization (RCO), has scheduled a PUBLIC MEETING in advance of a public hearing to discuss the project at the following date, time and location:
