Spa owner Goldie Barnes is a certified body sculpting and post-op care specialist can offer you a personalized spa experience, whether you are seeking post operative care, skin tightening​, lymphatic massage, wood therapy, laser lipo, sauna wraps, body waxing, brow tinting, or other wellness care. The RDC’s Jax Cusack sat down recently with Barnes to reflect on her first year in Roxborough and to hear what’s next for Body by Venus.

What was your most significant achievement this year?

One of the highlights of the year was earning my esthetician license. Additionally, Body by Venus had the pleasure of welcoming Brianna Naomi Aesthetics to share our space. Located on our lower level, Brianna has been with Body by Venus since June, and we are delighted to have her as part of our team.

What challenges did you face during your first year, and how did you overcome them?  

Navigating the challenges of a new business, from logistics to operations, was a learning curve. However, the local community's support and feedback were instrumental in refining our services. Adapting and listening to customer needs helped us to overcome hurdles.

What connections or partnerships have you made in the neighborhood that helped your business grow? Or would you like to make? 

I've had the pleasure of supporting various businesses in the neighborhood, and each experience has been enriching. It's wonderful to see the camaraderie and mutual support amongst us. I'm looking forward to strengthening these relationships and supporting even more businesses in the coming year.

What is your favorite memory or moment from your first year in Roxborough?

One of my favorite memories is the ice sculpture event at the Roxborough Pocket Park. The joy and creativity it sparked amongst attendees, coupled with the sense of community effort, truly captured the essence of Roxborough's spirit.

Do you have any special promotions or celebrations planned for your anniversary?

Yes! We're also excited to celebrate our anniversary with a 10% off sale on body sculpting services through January 29th at noon. Plus, we're offering a 10% discount on memberships.

Are there any exciting services or events coming up that you’d like to share?

I’m always eager to bring new offerings to Body by Venus and continue evolving. This spring, I'm thrilled to be expanding our services to include skin whitening, fat dissolving techniques, and ice sculpting.

Roxborough's vibrant community and its blend of historical charm with modern energy truly inspired me. It felt like the perfect place to blend tradition with innovation in wellness. The supportive small-business environment made it an ideal location to plant my roots.
