With roots in the neighborhood, Roxborough resident and business owner, Jack Wheeler, gives his take on how supporting local businesses impacts our community.
I have been a resident of Roxborough for over 60 years and have owned and operated Jack Wheeler’s Hair Company on Krams Avenue since 1974. I want to express the importance of shopping local and how it benefits Roxborough. Local Roxborough businesses in turn use their proceeds to purchase goods and services within the neighborhood. This means more jobs and more opportunities for local merchants, local laborers, and residents to further support our growing Roxborough community.
“Many of you take great pride and joy in patronizing our local businesses. Thank you for your loyalty.”
I hope we offer you a pleasing experience shopping in Roxborough. Merchants in Roxborough enjoy the friendly, personal interaction with their customers. Customers identify business owners and their staff on a first-name basis, trade stories, provide family updates and complain every winter when the Eagles’ Super Bowl chances are over. These types of shopper-merchant relationships are nonexistent when you shop in suburban malls or on the Internet.
Please support me in this effort and shop small. I hope to see you on Ridge Avenue soon!
