In partnership with the Philadelphia Streets Department the Roxborough Development Corporation (RDC) has contracted to convert existing street lighting along the Ridge Avenue commercial corridor to LED lighting. Work for the project started this week with the initial phase expected to be completed this fall. The upgrade seeks to enhance safety, visibility and promote the evening economy along Ridge Avenue in Roxborough.
Through the partnership, the RDC has provided the city with a grant for the purchase of 67 LED light fixtures to replace old or dilapidated fixtures along Ridge. In return, the Philadelphia Streets Department will provide labor for the lighting installations and ensure continued maintenance of the fixtures. The initial locations of the Phase 1 LED Lighting Upgrade are being completed on both sides of Ridge Avenue from Jamestown Avenue to Hermitage Street.
"Through our partnership with the Department of Streets, we can encourage residents and visitors to stay on Ridge Avenue to experience our shops, restaurants and special event programming in the evening,"
