Roxborough’s Famed Fall Street Festival Returns To Ridge Avenue Featuring Beer Gardens From Roxborough’s First Brewery New Ridge Brewing Company.  

Fall fun is brewing at the seventh annual “Roxtoberfest”, the Roxborough neighborhood’s uniquely Philly spin on the world-renowned German Oktoberfest celebration.  The popular, family-friendly event, presented this year by Roxborough Memorial Hospital, will take place on Saturday, October 5th from 12 noon until 6 p.m. Live music, German folk dancing, competitions and children’s activities are just some of the fun things to do at Roxtoberfest. This fall street festival takes place along Ridge Avenue between Lyceum Avenue and Leverington Avenue in Roxborough.

New Ridge which is expected to open late fall will provide on-street beer gardens at this year’s event,” says Roxborough Development Corporation Executive Director James Harry Calamia.  “We’re quite proud to feature a sneak peek of the locally owned brewery and look forward to offering event goers an early taste of Roxborough’s own brew,” he said.  “The live entertainment schedule, in particular, is also really strong and features Polkadelphia, accordionist Ralph Salerno and Selma Schlee, performances by the G.T.V. Almrausch Schuhplattler Alpine Folk Dancers as well as an incredible lineup of performers soon to be announced in partnership with the Philadelphia Folksong Society.”

The event will also feature specialty cocktails by Captain Morgan, Ketel One Botanical and Crown Royal Regal Apple along the event route, as well as programming at Ridge Avenue’s recently launched Roxborough Pocket Park. The on-street food options include Anatolian Delight, Babalouie BBQ, Burg's Hideaway Lounge, Chewys, Moon Dawg Sundaes, Rigatoni's Mobile Crab Cakes, Slurp, The Happy Pita, The Roaming Raven, Ziggy's Roaster, Inc. and more. Local restaurants included along the event footprint include Ban Bamboo, Basement Board Game Cafe, The Foodery, Michael’s Water Ice, Roma’s Cafe, Roma’s Pizza, Tavern On Ridge, Santucci’s Italian Pizza, White Yak and more.

 

To keep the kids happy, Roxtoberfest children’s activities will include face painting, balloon animals, moon bounce, an obstacle course, and inflatable slide.  Adults can also join in on the fun at the life-size game area including beer garden favorites Jenga, Connect Four, Beer Pong and Cornhole.
